Overview of Our Tutoring Program
Our small group algebra tutoring is designed to supplement your child’s existing math curriculum while giving them the individual attention they need to succeed. These classes are especially beneficial for students ages 10 and older, whether they are new to algebra or looking to sharpen their skills for future coursework.
Program Structure

-
Age Group: Designed for students ages 10 and up.
-
Levels of the Program: The program consists of 4 levels, each building on the skills learned in the previous level to ensure a strong algebra foundation.
Level 1: Introduction to Algebraic Thinking
Students use a hands-on approach with red cubes and blue pawns to physically set up and solve equations like:
➡️ 4x + 3 = 3x + 9
➡️ 2(2x + 1) = 3x + 10
This method makes algebra tangible and visual, helping students grasp foundational algebraic concepts. Students only need to understand basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication) to get started. This level lays the groundwork for all future algebra learning!
Level 2: Introducing Negative Variables
Building on Level 1, students are introduced to negative variables. By physically working with negative and positive values, they see and understand key algebraic principles—like how subtracting a negative is the same as adding a positive. These hands-on experiences make complex concepts intuitive and easy to grasp.

Level 3: Moving from Concrete to Abstract
At this stage, students continue working
with negative variables and integers,
but they also begin learning essential
algebraic vocabulary. A major shift occurs as students start transitioning from using physical objects to writing out their steps, developing the skills needed to solve equations abstractly.
Level 4: Mastering Linear Equations with Fractions
In this final level, students continue using the concrete methods from Levels 1–3 but now apply them to solving linear equations involving fractions.
The completion of levels 1-4 ensures students are well-prepared for
Algebra 1 and beyond.
